ARTS DAY 2006 VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
Arts Day 2006 will be here before we know it and we need your help! This year the festival will take place on January 15, 2006, in downtown Sarasota, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It takes more than 400 volunteers to produce Arts Day! We have many places for you to help and fun perks for your participation including:
- Free Arts Day t-shirt
- Free admission to the indoor venues before or after your shift
- Lots of fun!
VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION IS REQUIRED: All volunteers need to attend one of the following meetings to learn all about Arts Day 2006. Volunteer chairperson will be at the meeting to brief you on volunteer positions. At this meeting, you will receive your volunteer entry pass and t-shirt. Each meeting will take approximately 50 minutes.
Thursday, January 5, 2006 Selby Library Auditorium: 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, January 7, 2006
The Arts Council office buliding lobby, 1st floor
Sarasota County Arts Council
1226 N. Tamiami Trail, Suite 300
Sarasota, FL 34236
Two separte sessions: 9:30-10:30, and 11:00-12:00
ARTS DAY T-SHIRTS: Each volunteer will receive one official Arts Day volunteer t-shirt. This must be worn while you are working your shift.
WE COUNT ON YOU! We can’t run the festival without you. Your commitment to serve the shift you signed up for and your prompt arrival are absolutely necessary! Remember: If your schedule must change, or if you have an emergency, please contact us immediately so we can try to replace you. Call our Volunteer Coordinator, Betty Morris at (941)809-9304.
WHAT TO DO ABOUT “IFFY” WEATHER: The show must go on! Arts Day is a rain or shine event. The budget of over $100,000 does not allow us to have a rain date. Just because the weather is bad at your house does not mean the weather is bad at the festival. We will be counting on you!
WHEN TO GET TO THE EVENT: Get there early! You need to check into Volunteer Headquarters before you begin work at the event. We need you to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled time to work to allow for parking and walking to your volunteer assignment.
VOLUNTEER REFRESHMENTS: Refreshments for hardworking volunteers are complimentary at Volunteer Headquarters. They are available to you before or after your shift. Alcoholic beverages may not be consumed before or during a shift.
